Mahinda refutes government’s claims on SAITM

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday (13th February) stated that his Government allowed South Asian Institute of Technology and Medicine (SAITM) to exist only under certain conditions.

However, he did not elaborate what these conditions were.

Rajapaksa also opined that the Presidential Commission appointed to resolve the SAITM issue was only an addition to the many Commissions appointed under President Maithripala Sirisena.

He made these remarks responding to journalists’ questions, on his way out of the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court after the Avant Garde case was taken up to be heard.
