Sri Lanka Rupee hits new record low of 161 against US Dollar

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The value of Sri Lankan Rupee (LKR) dropped to a new low of 161 against the United States Dollar (USD) on Monday (18).

The Rupee opened at around 159.40/90 but by mid-day was quoted around 161.00/05 to the US Dollars in the Stock Market.

It crossed the 160 to the US Dollar range last week but rebound later in the week.

On the Stock Market the Colombo All Share Index was down 16.51 points (0.26 Percent) to 6,359 points by mid-day.
