National Child Protection Programme under President’s patronage today

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Kilinochchi District Conference under the ‘Child Protection’ National Programme will be held under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena at the Kilinochchi Madya Maha Vidyalaya premises at 10.00 AM today (18).

The “Daruwan Surakimu” National Programme was initiated as a project forwarded by the President’s office based on a concept of President Maithripala Sirisena under the objective to protect the children and to create an environment for them to live safely in the society.

This programme is conducted Island wide under five sections such as preventing abuse and maltreatment, ensuring security, health and nutrition and welfare, personality development, education and uplifting life skills.

The children are empowered under numerous fields such as health, education, psychological counselling, and legal advice.

The personality development programme “Anagathaya Dinana Daruwo” is also conducted under “Daruwan Surakimu” National Programme which is initiated by President’s office.

Several projects are to be started tomorrow within the Kilinochchi District under the “Daruwan Surakimu” National Programme.

They include presenting the new stadium built for the Kilinochchi Kanagapuram Maha Vidyalaya for the usage of the students, to provide funds for the reconstruction and modernization of the children’s homes and accommodation of Northern province provided for the security of the children, providing monetary funds for erecting special pathways and the development of other facilities to the disabled children who are being educated in 25 schools in northern province, to provide domestic water filters for 1000 families which doesn’t not have access for clean water in order to save them from threats of kidney diseases, provide sets of books, wooden equipment and sports items for selected pre-schools for pre child development, provide monetary aid for the families who have children lacking security and other programmes will be conducted under President’s patronage tomorrow.

Thus a mobile service for psychological counselling, legal advice, and accepting entries will be conducted today.
