(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Ministry of Petroleum Resources Development is to introduce Euro 4 fuel to the market and replace Super Diesel and 95 Octane Petrol in July.
Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera had announced last year that from this year Sri Lanka will follow the environmentally-friendly Euro 4 emissions standard as adopted by European nations.
The Euro emission standards seek to limit the vehicle’s toxic gas in hopes to attain a cleaner, breathable air. The 1st Euro level (Euro 1) was introduced in 1992 as an initiative by the EU to regulate and standardize the amount of carbon monoxide (CO) and other poisonous chemicals being emitted by motor vehicles.
