(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Kuwaiti civil aviation regulator signed on Monday a contract with Dutch Deerns company for providing management and supervision services for technical facilities at Kuwait International Airport, the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported.
Under the five-year contract worth 10.19 million Kuwaiti dinars (33.7 million U.S. dollars), the Dutch company will provide services to develop meteorology and navigation systems at Kuwait International Airport, KUNA cited Sheikh Salman Sabah Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah, chairman of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, as saying in a statement.
It will also contribute to the development of navigational capabilities, especially after the addition of new runways and a control tower to boost air traffic capacity before the opening of the new passenger terminal (T2), he added.
With an estimated capacity of 25 million passengers annually, T2 is scheduled to complete by 2022.
Founded in 1928, Deerns has set up many branches in the Netherlands, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Britain, the United Arab Emirates, Brazil and the United States.
