Army troops deployed to assist cyclone-affected Uddubaddawa

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Troops of the 16 Gajaba Regiment and 1 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) of the 143 Brigade under the 14 Division of the Security Force Headquarters – West (SFHQ-West) are currently busy attending to the emergency requirements in the general areas of Bibiladeniya, Dunakadeniya, Udadeniya, Meegahapelessa and Polgahaagara in the Uddubaddawa Divisional Secretariat, Kurunegala district where a cyclonic wind has caused disturbances to normalcy on Sunday (10).

143 Brigade commanded by Brigadier Palitha Perera rushed to the affected areas on being informed of the cyclonic wind and its effects and began clearing fallen trees and other paraphernalia inside human settlements and began to clear those affected areas and helped civilians to bring normalcy to their areas under the directions of Major General Sathyapriya Liyanage, Commander, Security Forces – West (SF-West) and Major General Ralph Nugera, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 14 Division.

More than 50 Army troops of the 14 Division are still clearing debris, collecting those elements and restoring normalcy to the most parts of affected areas.
