Nigerian Army delegates visits Jaffna for consultations

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The visiting Nigerian Army delegation, comprised of a few lady officers with a view to having an interaction with women soldiers serving the 7 Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps (SLAWC) in the Jaffna peninsula called at the Security Force Headquarters – Jaffna before visiting the 7 SLAWC camp.

The Nigerian Army delegation arrived in Sri Lanka a few days ago with the intention of consulting the Sri Lanka Army for its intended raising of the maiden women’s corps in the Nigerian Army in future. They also met the Chief of Staff at the Army Headquarters on behalf of the Commander of the Army before they departed from Colombo to meet women soldiers in Jaffna.

Brigadier General P.B Fakrogha, Colonel J.O Are, Major N.H Longpoe and Major J.T Ancha of the Nigerian Army met the Commanding Officer of the 7 SLAWC Headquarters and received a comprehensive account of administrative functions and role and tasks of the Women’s Corps Battalion and how lady officers and woman soldiers engaged in civil community-oriented projects under the Security Force Headquarters – Jaffna.
