Six persons on-board suspicious dinghy held in Northern seas

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Naval personnel on-board a Fast Attack Craft attached to the Northern Naval Command, during routine patrol, intercepted a suspicious dinghy with 06 persons in northern seas on Wednesday (15).

After detecting a suspicious boat movement in the seas about 13 nautical miles north of Kankasanthurei, the Navy dispatched the Fast Attack Craft to the location. Incidentally, the naval personnel took 06 persons comprising 03 males, 01 female and 02 children aboard the dinghy into naval custody. Having brought them to the naval base SLNS Uththara in Kankasanthurei, first aid and other healthcare needs of them were also administered by the Navy. The 06 persons along with the dinghy were handed over to the Kankasanthurei Police for onward investigations.
