Suspected bank robber arrested

UTV | COLOMBO – Police have arrested a suspect who had allegedly linked to the recent robberies in banks and jewellery shops.

Police said that the suspect was arrested in the Kiribathgoda area.

The suspect had arrived at a bank branch in Wattala on a motorcycle yesterday afternoon.

However, when a security guard had confronted him, the suspect had fled the area.

Then the bank staff had alerted the police about the suspect and his motorcycle.

The initial investigations revealed that the suspect was a 42-year-old, resident of Iriyawetiya, Kiribathgoda, Kelaniya.

Police have also found a packet of chilli powder in the possession of the suspect.
