Government of Sri Lanka condemns Kabul bombings

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Sri Lankan Government condemned the twin suicide bombings in Afghanistan that killed at least twenty-nine people, including nine Journalists on Sunday (30).

“We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of all victims,” Spokesperson of the Foreign Ministry Mahishini Colenne said, adding “We wish all those injured in this senseless violence a speedy recovery.”

The Islamic State (IS) group claimed the Kabul bombings in a statement posted online, saying it targeted the Afghan intelligence headquarters.

The statement did not say anything about specifically targeting Journalists. The blasts took place in the central Shash Darak area, home to NATO Headquarters and a number of Embassies and Foreign Offices – as well as the Afghan intelligence service.
