The birth of the Buddha illumines the nation

UTV | COLOMBO – The sacred relics enshrined at the Mulagandhakuti Viharaya in Sarnath, India, arrived in Sri Lanka on Saturday. Speaker Karu Jayasuriya and Indian High Commissioner Taranjit Singh Sandhu along with the Maha Sangha, received the relics at a ceremony held As the country was illuminated to mark Vesak yesterday, devotees thronged to temples, while pandals, lanterns and Vesak zones were inaugurated.

The Buddha Rashmi National Vesak Zone – 2018 at the Gangaramaya Temple in Colombo, which was inaugurated yesterday, would continue until May 2. The exposition of sacred relics brought down from India and Pakistan and other ancient artifacts brought down from Nepal, would be held at Temple Trees and Gangaramaya.
