Saudi Arabia calls for effective international action to tackle terrorism and it’s financing

UTV | COLOMBO – Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister, Adel Al-Jubeir, on Friday took part in an international ministerial meeting about Syria. It was held during a conference in Paris, attended by experts from 70 nations, on combating terrorist financing, under the banner “No Money for Supporting Terrorism.”

Al-Jubeir was joined at the Syria meeting by officials from France, Germany, the US, Jordan and the UK.

He said later, on the sidelines of the conference, that Saudi Arabia called for effective international action to tackle terrorism and its financing, pointing out that the Kingdom had hosted the first international conference to counter terrorism, in 2005.

He added that Saudi Arabia actively monitors the movement of funds, supported the establishment of the International Counter-Terrorism Center in the UN, and was among the countries that formed the Global Coalition against Daesh.

He also highlighted a number of other initiatives led by the Kingdom, including the establishment of the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition and the Global Center for Combating Extremist Ideology.
