“No confirmation Sri Lankan among Canada victims” – Foreign Ministry

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Issuing a communiqué on Wednesday (25), the Foreign Ministry stated that there is no confirmation reports of a Sri Lankan is among the victims of the incident in Canada on Tuesday (24).

The Foreign Ministry said that it has seen news alerts and social media posts regarding a Sri Lankan victim of the incident in Toronto, and the Consulate General in Toronto is working closely with Canadian Authorities including the Toronto Police with regard to the identification of victims.

The Foreign Ministry further noted that the names of the victims identified and confirmed by the relevant Canadian Authorities at present do not include Sri Lankan citizens.

“We will continue to engage with the relevant authorities and will share confirmed information when available,” the Foreign Ministry added.
