Sri Lanka condemns Afghanistan terror attack

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Government of Sri Lanka has condemned Sunday’s (22) terror attack in Kabul, Afghanistan, in which 57 people were killed.

The dead include 21 women and 5 children, killed when the blast hit the queue outside. A further 119 people were injured.

The Islamic State group (IS) said it had carried out the attack.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, “Sri Lanka strongly condemns the heinous terrorist attack at a voter registration centre in Kabul which is an assault on democracy. Our thoughts are with the victims and their families.”
