Outlets selling unhygienic food examined in Nuwara Eliya

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Health officers have raided shops that were selling food items unsuitable for human consumption in the Nuwara Eliya town.

A large number of local as well as foreign tourists are arriving in the Nuwara Eliya town for the New Year period. As such many new shops have been opened within the town.

A special operation to raid food outlets selling unhygienic food was launched. More than 82 shops were inspected. These health officials inspected the weekly fair, the central market, hotels, bakeries and food outlets. The Public Health Inspectors took unhygienic food into their custody. Many shops were strictly warned.
