Shashi Welgama in Court Today

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – The Former Chairman of the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) Shashi Welgama arrested and remanded on charges of misusing state funds will be produced before Court today (06th Monday).

Shashi Welgama will be produced before the Colombo Additional Magistrates Court.

When the case was last taken up the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) informed Court that investigations have commenced to apprehend the former Chief Financial Officer of SLTB Hirantha Sanjeewa Waidyathilake who was named as the third suspect in the case.

The CID however informed Court that he was overseas.

Shashi Welgama was arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department on the 20th of December 2016, over the alleged misappropriation of 125 million rupees in state funds for the purchase of equipment for the SLTB.
