Ministers heads for Geneva UNHRC session

(UTV|COLOMBO) – A Sri Lankan delegation will be attending the 37th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council, which commenced on February 26.

Foreign Affairs Minister Tilak Marapana and Special Assignments Minister Dr. Sarath Amunugama will travel to Geneva next Monday (19). While there, they will attend the session on Wednesday (21), during which the High Commissioner for Human Rights, Zeid Ra’ad Al-Hussein, will present a written update on the country’s progress in implementing UNHRC Resolution 30/1.

This resolution aims to promote reconciliation, accountability, and human rights in the country. While in Geneva, Ministers Marapana and Amunugama have no plans for any further diplomatic meetings, according to Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Mahishini Colonne.
