GMOA to discuss private medical degrees

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – The Central Working Committee of the Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) is scheduled to convene today (02nd Thursday) to discuss the recent court ruling pertaining to medical degrees awarded by a private educational institute.

The Association said in a statement that the meeting has been scheduled to hold discussions pertaining to the operation of the South Asian Institute of Technology and Medicine (SAITM) and the quality of health care in the country.

Yesterday, 112 union branches of the Government Medical officers Association convened for an emergency meeting.

A spokesman for the association stated that after taking into consideration, the decisions arrived at yesterday’s meeting the Central committee will devise a suitable action plan to be taken in future.
