Mahapola Scholarship still in effect – University Grants Commission assures

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The University Grants Commission (UGC) assured that no eligible student will be denied the Mahapola or other scholarship grants.

UGC Chairman Professor Mohan De Silva in a statement released said that the payments have not been curtailed for any student who has fulfilled the qualifications required for the Mahapola Scholarship or student aid.

Issuing a statement, Prof. Mohan de Silva said funds allocated through the Mahapola Scholarship have been given to all students of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura and the University of Moratuwa for the academic year 2016/2017.

Furthermore, the statement said all students attached to faculties that have commenced studies during the month of January and February 2018 will be given the relevant funds in March.

Students who have not commenced their studies but are yet to commence their studies are expected to receive the Mahapola Scholarship within one month from their commencement date.

The University Grants Commission emphasized that the funds have been provided by the Mahapola Trust Fund.
