Action against fishing with explosives – Mahinda Amaraweera

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Mahinda Amaraweera says security forces have been requested to take action against fishermen who utilize explosives for poaching.

The Minister called for those selling fishermen the explosives to also be arrested.

Minister Amaraweera added fishermen using C4 explosives used by the LTTE during the conflict was a disturbing fact.

The Minister accordingly highlighted the importance of holding a stringent investigation into the matter.

Issuing a statement the Ministry said marine life is being affected due to the use of explosives when poaching.
