(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – Minister Thalatha Athukorala says the government is committed to punishing all those found guilty of corruption including those behind the Central Bank (CB) bond controversy.
The Minister made this statement during an event in Balangoda. Minister Athukorala said the issue of bonds has caused controversy since 2008 and said required steps will be taken by the Attorney General (AG). She said even the President has taken steps to ensure justice.
Minister Athukorala said the government even arranged for a debate on the matter in Parliament. She said 1.4 million families are supported by the Samurdhi programme in this country and said no one has the right to rob public funds when so many people lack basic necessities.
