(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) today (27th Friday) informed the Fort Magistrate’s Court that Sri Lanka’s Former Ambassador to Russia Udayanga Weeratunga is in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The CID also informed Court that extensive investigations are underway into the misplacement of the reports of the purchase of the MiG aircraft for the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF).
Charges have been filed against the Former Ambassador over financial fraud alleged to have taken place during the controversial procurement of MiG-27 aircraft for the Sri Lanka Air Force.
The Fort Magistrate’s Court on the 20th of October issued an arrest warrant for Udayanga Weeratunga over the case.
