(UTV|COLOMBO) – On receipt of information to the Navy, naval personnel attached to the Western Naval Command in coordination with officials of the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources in Negombo apprehended a person for possessing 22 kg of turtle meat and 5.4 kg of turtle eggs, during a search conducted in Pitipana area yesterday (25).
The turtle meat and eggs were made ready to be sold by the suspect. Meanwhile, a motorcycle used for this illegal activity was also seized along with the person. The apprehended suspect, turtle meat and eggs and the motorcycle were handed over to the Fisheries Inspector of Negombo for onward action.
