Navy nabs a person for illegal transportation of fish

(UTV|COLOMBO) – On receipt of information, naval personnel attached to Eastern Naval Command apprehended a person who was transferring 300 Kgs of fish caught by illegal fishing practices, during a raid carried out in coordination with Trincomalee Police and officials from Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources.

The person was nabbed at the 4th mile post in Trincomalee while transferring the fish stock which had been caught by illegal explosions, (Dynamite) for sale. The apprehended person, fish cache and the cab used for transferring were produced to Trincomalee Police for onward legal action.
