Minimum standards on Medical Education, Clinical Training to be Gazetted on Jan. 27

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The minimum standards on Medical Education and clinical training will be Gazetted on 27 January, the Government Information Department announced.

The Gazette includes abolishing the Malabe SAITM institute and by transferring its assets, liabilities, students, and staff, to a new non-state, non-profit degree awarding institution.

A new not-for-profit ‘sunset’ institution will absorb all students who were in the medical program of the SAITM campus in Malabe, as well its assets and liabilities, at which point SAITM will be abolished.
