FR against COPE report fixed for March

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – The Supreme Court today (26th Thursday) ordered the Fundamental Rights (FR) petition filed by Chief Incumbent of Nalandaramaya Nugegoda Thiniyawala Palitha thera pertaining to the Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) report on the controversy surrounding the Central Bank bond issuance to be taken up for hearing on the 7th of March.

The order was issued by a three member bench comprising judges Eva Wanasundara, Anil Gunarathna and Prasanna Jayawardene.

The Supreme Court today issued notices to all 32 respondents cited in the petition.

All 26 members of the COPE committee, members of the Central Bank’s financial board, the Attorney General and the Governor of the Central Bank are among the respondents.
