Religious places will be developed with proper plans – Minister

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – Minister of Megapolis and Western Development Patali Champika Ranawaka said that the government will take every step to develop all the religious places including Temple of the Tooth Relic, Atamastanaya, and Kiriwehera at Kataragama according to a proper urban development plan.

He stated this yesterday (25th Jan.) at a ceremony held at the Temple of the Tooth Relic in Kandy to hand over the first phase of the multi-purpose building complex.

He said that the Urban Development Authority has invested over Rs. 15,000 million to develop the Kandy city and its suburbs in a proper plan. Specially, the water supply and drainage system as well as the sewerage system will be developed and Sri Lanka’s first multi-purpose transport center will be set up. All the plans are expected to be completed within the next four years.

As well, Kandy, Anuradhapura, and Jaffna will also be developed as strategic cities.

Further speaking about the new Constitution to be drafted, the minister added that it would not lead the country towards instability.
