Navy recovers cache of explosives in Lankapatuna

(UTV|COLOMBO) – On receipt of information to the Navy, a team of naval troops attached to the Eastern Naval Command recovered a cache of explosives in Lankapatuna on 13 January, the Navy Media Unit said on Monday (15).

Among them were 10 capsules of water gel explosive, 1 non-electric detonator and 16-inch-long 3 safety fuses. It is believed that these explosives have been concealed to be used in illegal fishing practices. The items were brought to SLNS Lankapatuna and kept safe until further action is initiated.
