37 protesters granted bail

37 manpower employees arrested for violating a court order and staging a protest opposite the Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy have been granted bail.

The group was released on bail following being produced before the Colombo Magistrates Court.

Colombo Fort Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne ordered the suspects be released on a 100,000 Rupee surety bail each.

The Police Headquarters said the group was arrested on charges of violating a court order.

The individuals were arrested by officers attached to the Colpetty, Borella, Kirulapone, Wellawatte, Narahenpita and Bambalapitiya police stations.

The group was arrested around 10:30pm last night.
