(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – The much-anticipated debate on the report compiled by the Parliamentary Committee on Public Enterprises on the Central Bank (CB) Bond issue was held yesterday (24th Tuesday).
Speaking in Parliament, United Peoples Freedom Alliance (UPFA) Parliamentarian (MP) Namal Rajapakshe accused the government of appointing multiple commissions to probe fraud investigation.
MP Rajapakshe said the government had failed in its investigations and stressed the need of legal experts to punish those found guilty of the bond controversy.
The Hambantota District parliamentarian said two years have lapsed however the present government has only managed to compile reports. He said action has not been taken despite receiving a Central Bank report and a report on EPF losses. The MP added a report will now be taken from the Presidential Commission.
UPFA MP Namal Rajapakse said an internal report was compiled by the Central Bank over the bond issue in which a loss of 55 billion rupees was recorded.
MP Rajapakshe added that instead of launching an investigation into the report the incumbent Governor Indrajit Coomaraswamy formed a committee to investigate as to how the report was released to the general public.
