Fishing craft meets with an accident off Maldives

UTV | COLOMBO – A multi-day fishing craft that sailed out from Beruwala Fisheries Harbour with 6 local fishermen has met with an accident in the seas off the Maldives.

The fishing craft, Lakpriya 01, left the habour on 21st of November.

The relatives of the fishermen had been informed of the accident last Friday (16).

The owner of the boat had sent another craft to rescue the fishermen.

However, still, the whereabouts of the fishermen are unknown.

We contacted the Director General of the Fisheries Department Christy Cooray and he said that already the Maldivian authorities have been informed of the accident.
