No shortage of stents at National Hospital

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – There is no shortage of stents used for heart operations at the National Hospital said Heart Specialist Dr. Gotabaya Ranasinghe.

“Yesterday (23rd Monday) also we performed heart operations and we used the stents given free by the Health Ministry. We perform about 10 operations daily at the National Hospital. The decision taken by Minister of Health, indigenous medicine Rajitha Senaratna to give the stents free of charge to patients is commendable”, Dr. Ranasinghe added.

He said up to now the patients undergoing Angio-plastic surgery had to purchase the stents from private companies. It has been changed with immediate effect with the decision of the minister to give the stents free of charge.
