Cases to be heard at High Courts daily

UTV | COLOMBO – The Cabinet of Ministers has granted approval to hear cases at High Courts daily in order to reduce the delays in court cases.

The Cabinet paper was presented by Minister of Justice Thalatha Athukorala.

17,505 cases were due to be heard at High Courts by September 2017. The Cabinet decision was taken to reduce the delays in court cases.

Accordingly, court cases will be heard daily with exception to special occasions. The Cabinet also decided to amend the Criminal Procedure Code.
