CEB Trade Unions warn of continuous strike

UTV | COLOMBO – The Trade Union Collective of the Ceylon Electricity Board has warned that continuous trade union action will be launched at noon tomorrow if a favourable response is not provided by the government by noon today pertaining to their demands.

Speaking to a prominent online news portal in the island, the Convenor Ranjan Jayalal said all efforts to seek a solution through the means of discussions failed.

Jayalal added the strike that started on the 11th is now on the 9th day claiming the Board of Directors of the CEB convened for discussions yesterday.

However the verdict of the discussions has not been made known to the trade union representatives.

Jayalal said 23,000 CEB employees will gather opposite the CEB in protest if a favourable solution is not provided.

Among the demands of the CEB Trade Union Collective is obtaining bonus payments, rectifying salary anomalies when increasing the salaries of CEB engineers in 2014 and providing overtime payments.
