Petition against Ambagamuwa delimitation postponed

UTV | COLOMBO – The Supreme Court today decided to hear the Fundamental Rights petition filed against the new delimitations of the Ambagamuwa Pradeshiya Sabha on the 8th of January next year.

The Court also directed the Attorney General’s Department to deliberate the contents raised through the petition with the Chairman of the Elections Commission.

UTV News Court correspondent said the petition was filed by a former member of the Ambagamuwa Pradeshiya Sabha.

The petition cites the gazette notice issued demarcating the Ambagamuwa Pradeshiya Sabha into 3 divisions violates the fundamental rights of the petitioner.

The gazette notice was issued by the Minister of Provincial Councils and Local Government Faiszer Musthapha on the 2nd of November.
