“Sri Lanka interested in buying oil from Iran” – Envoy

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Sri Lanka has expressed its keenness to broaden mutual cooperation with Iran, especially in the energy sector and to purchase its oil products.

The Sri Lankan Ambassador to Teheran Sharif Anis has said on Sunday (10) that Sri Lanka is interested in buying Iran’s oil products, Fars News Agency reported.

“Iran and Sri Lanka enjoy long-lasting experience in political, economic and diplomatic cooperation,” Anis said, referring to his country’s readiness in promoting trade cooperation with Iran.

“Sri Lanka is after importing Iran’s oil products and construction materials,” he added.

“Tourism is another issue discussed by the two sides as possible ground for promoting direct investments,” he said.
