Colombian Civil Experts, Australian Envoys hold talks with Jaffna Commander

(UTV|COLOMBO) – A consortium of professionals and experts representing the Programme of Alliances for Reconciliation (PAR) from the South American, Colombia called at the Security Force Headquarters – Jaffna (SFHQ-J) recently with the objective of sharing views on their own experiences on reconciliation and general matters of civil concern and met Major General Darshana Hettiarachchi, Commander, SF-J.

After the delegation was received, Major General Hettiarachchi, presented them with a detailed account on the series of community and welfare projects being carried out by the troops in Jaffna and how they maintain friendly relations with the Jaffna populace.

The delegation on an international exchange visit was headed by Mr Andres Recardo, a digital editor by profession.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Lauren Minson of Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, accompanied by the officials of the Australian High Commission in Sri Lanka also visited the SFHQ-J and had a formal interactive meeting with Major General Darshana Hettiarachchi, Commander, SF-J on Wednesday (22).

During the meeting, they focused on general developments and situation in the North before a presentation was conducted on ‘The Role and Responsibilities of the Security Forces – Jaffna and Military Assistance in Post-Conflict Scenario’ at the main conference hall in the Headquarters.
