Many health projects implemented in North with the contribution of Army – PMD

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Many development programmes are being implemented successfully under the guidance of President Maithripala Sirisena and with the contribution of Tri-Forces to uplift the living standard of the people in the North, who were affected by the 3-decade long brutal war, the President’s Media Division (PMD) stated on Monday (20).

At present, a large number of projects which were implemented jointly with the Ministry of Health to improve the health facilities for the people in the North have been successfully completed and those projects were launched under the supervision of the Army Commander Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake and labour, provided by Army troops.

Under this initiative, development activities including the construction of Out Patients Department (OPD) and ward complex of the Maruthankerney Rural Hospital, Kayts District Hospital, Vaddukoddai Rural Hospital, Velanai Rural Hospital, Chankanai Peripheral Unit and Kodikamam Central Dispensary and Maternity Home of Jaffna District, have been completed.

Furthermore, at present the construction of OPD of the Mallavi Base Hospital, Mankulam Base Hospital and Kilinochchi District General Hospital, have been completed as well as the construction of OPD of the Sampathnuwara District Hospital of the Mullaitivu District also completed.

The development work of Vavuniya General Hospital which is under Vanni division and the building of the residencies of medical officers of Manthei Eastern Rural Hospital have been successfully completed.

Accordingly, Sri Lanka Army has taken actions to hand over all completed projects to the Ministry of Health.
