(UTV|COLOMBO) – Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan paid called on President Maithripala Sirisena on Saturday (18), at the Official Residence of the President in Colombo.
The President expressed his satisfaction over the rapid growth of the relationship between the two countries. The areas of discussions included potential investments in sectors such as tourism, hospitality industry, aviation and airports. Sri Lankan side expressed the hope that Dubai, which is a top financial centre, would support Colombo’s rapid development programmes to be the best financial centre east of Dubai.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates said that the 125,000 Sri Lankan workforce in the UAE provide a great strengthen to the economy of the UAE and the President Sirisena said that workforce also has been contributing to the Sri Lankan economy by bringing foreign revenue into the country.
Ministers Nimal Siripala de Silva, Sarath Amunugama, Ambassadors of the two countries and several officials of the foreign ministry of UAE were present on this occasion.
