Program to enhance health of pregnant women, under President’s patronage

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – A special program to deliver nutrition packs and dry rations among the pregnant women was held on Sunday (16) at the President’s House in Kandy, under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena. The program was organized by the Central Province Governor’s Office with the objective of enhancing the maternity health in the province.

The President symbolically delivered packs of dry rations and nutrition packs among the pregnant women. Nearly 10000 packs of dry rations and nutrition packs were delivered among the pregnant women in the province.

President Sirisena joined the lunch provided to the pregnant women at the President’s House.

Mr. I. G. Nandasena and Mrs. Indra Kalyani; the parents who consented to donate their son’s heart for a heart surgery met the President at this occasion. The President expressed his gratitude to them for their magnanimous offer.

Governor of the Central Province Niluka Ekanayake, Governor of Sabaragamuwa Province Martial Perera, Governor of North-Central Province P.B. Dissanayake, Governor of Southern Province Hemakumara Nanayakkara, Governor of the Central Province Sarath Ekanayake, Deputy Minister Anuradha Jayarathne and the Minister of Women’s Affairs of Central Province Thilina Bandara Thennakoon and Former Minister Nandimithra Ekanayake were among those participated in this occasion.
