Court prohibits political work at Narahenpita Abhayarama Temple

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – The Colombo District Court on Friday (14) issued an interim injunction order prohibiting the Sri Abayaramaya Temple in Narahenpita being used for political activities.

The order was given after considering the case filed by a monk of the Temple stating that political and trade union activities being carried out at the Temple was tarnishing the reputation of the temple.

After considering the facts presented, the Colombo District Judge issued the interim injunction order to the Chief Incumbent of the Temple, Ven. Muruththettuwe Ananda Thero to halt all political activities at the Sri Abayaramaya Temple.

The hearing of the petition was postponed to November 20.
