67 Foreign employment agencies blacklisted in first 6-months of 2017

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – The Sri Lankan Foreign Employment Bureau (SLBFE) stated 67 foreign employment agencies have been blacklisted over the past six-months of 2017.

A total of 61 foreign employment agencies were blacklisted in the year 2016.

The agencies were blacklisted for failing to assist in investigations into complaints, wrongfully deploying persons overseas and preparing fraudulent documents. The agencies are also accused of committing financial fraud and obtaining commissions from overseas foreign employment agencies and not deploying workers in return.

As of now, 702 registered employers have registered themselves with the SLBFE, out of which 355 are from the Colombo District.
