USD 100,000 grant from UAE for Sri Lankan flood victims

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – The Lulu Group International of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has donated AED 368,000 (Approximately USD 100,000) for recent floods and landslides victims in Sri Lanka.

Yusuf Ali, M. A., Chairman of the Lulu Group handed over the cheque to the Ambassador of Sri Lanka in UAE, S. J. Mohideen in Abu Dhabi, at the presence of senior officials of the Group and the Sri Lankan Embassy.

Yusuf Ali emphasised the importance of lending a helping hand to those in need in Sri Lanka noting the initiative of the UAE Government which is declared 2017 as “The Year of Giving”.

The Ambassador thanked the Lulu Group and its Chairman for the donation and highlighted that Sri Lanka appreciated the assistance provided by the international community to those who affected by the recent floods.
