DMC warns of possible inclement weather

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – The Disaster Management Centre (DMC) has called for the public to be cautious with regard to the possible inclement weather that has been predicted across the island.

Deputy Director and Media Spokesperson of the DMC Pradeep Koddippili said the public residing near rivers and hill areas must remain particularly cautious.

Mr. Koddippili noted the Department of Meteorology predicted a development in showers in the Western, Southern and the Sabaragamuwa Provinces, and in the central hills.

Accordingly it is important that the public residing near rivers, reservoirs and hill areas pay attention to the warnings issued by the DMC.

Mr. Koddippili further noted the public must not consider warnings issued by the National Building Research Organisation (NBRO) lightly.

Warnings have been issued in the Nuwara-Eliya, Kegalle, Kalutara, Galle, Matara, and Hambantota Districts.
