Route permits of buses that pick up passengers outside bus halts to be cancelled

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – The route permits of inter-provincial busses which stop other than at bus halts, will be annulled from the July 01, the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, Nimal Siripala de Silva said.

The decision has been made following complaints received by passengers.

Furthermore, the National Transport Commission (NTC) has been issued directives to monitor and fix CCTV cameras in such places where busses stop, and the Transport Minister urged the NTC to not renew permits of busses found to have engaged in such practices.
