Flood affected schools to be upgraded

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe on Saturday (17) assured that all schools affected by the recent flooding would be upgraded with facilities and infrastructure which the schools did not possess, prior to the disaster.

Speaking to villagers whilst inspecting Dudley Senanayake College, Pitabeddara, Prime Minister Wickremesinghe instructed officials present to ensure that school equipment, including computers affected by the flood to be provided to the school.

Prime Minister Wickremesinghe said that the flooding has created a bond between communities irrespective of racial and religious divides. He said that masses living in the North and East had contributed to relief efforts.

The Prime Minister also instructed officials to provide short and long term solutions to the provision of clean drinking water to the residents.

Prime Minister Wickremesinghe who inspected business entities affected by the flood, assured the community of continuous support of the government. He said the Government would provide all support required to ensure the businesses are return to normalcy.
