Two arrested in Mirigama over a ransom demand

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – Two suspects, who had attempted to obtain ransoms from a jewellery shop in Mirigama, have been arrested.

Police stated that the suspects had spoken to the owner of the jewellery shop via telephone and had demanded a ransom of 500,000 rupees.

When they had arrived to obtain 50,000 rupees from the total ransom demanded, they were apprehended by the Police.

The 34 and 47 year old suspects are residents of Gurugodella.

They are due to be presented before the Attanagalla magistrate’s court today.

Further investigations into the incident are being carried out by the Mirigama Police.
