Pakistan Navy Chief pledges fullest cooperation to Sri Lanka

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – The Chief of Naval Staff of the Pakistan Navy, Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah, who is currently on an official visit to Sri Lanka, called on the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Maithripala Sirisena at the President’s House in Mahagamasekara Mawatha on Tuesday evening (13). Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne was also present on this occasion.

During the meeting, the President expressed thoughts on the military history of both countries and exchanged views on matters of bilateral interests recalling the longstanding political and cultural relations between Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Pakistan Navy Chief in response, pledged his fullest cooperation of the Pakistan Navy to the Sri Lankan Government and Navy in any form of adversity, being a close friend of Sri Lanka for a long period of time. The cordial discussions came to an end with the exchange of mementoes to signify this occasion.

Acting High Commissioner of Pakistan to Sri Lanka, Dr. Safraz Ahmed Khan Sipra, Principal Secretary to the Chief of the Naval Staff, Commodore Javaid Iqbal and Defence Attaché to the Pakistan High Commission in Sri Lanka Colonel Irshad Khan were also present at this significant event.
