Over 840,000 affected by drought in parts of the country

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – Over 840,000 people have been affected by drought in parts of the country, despite rain being experienced in other areas.

The Disaster Management Centre (DMC) said that as of noon today 849,752 people have been affected by drought in eleven Districts.

According to the DMC, 243,683 families have been affected by the drought. Among the areas affected are Jaffna, Kurunegala, Batticaloa, and Ampara.
