Schools in the Western, Southern, Sabaragamuwa Provinces reopen today

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – The Education Ministry stated that schools in the Western, Southern, and Sabaragamuwa Provinces that had been closed due to the disaster conditions will reopen on Monday (05).

However, this is with the exemption of schools being used as shelters for the displaced.

Issuing a communiqué the Ministry stressed that in the Southern Province 10 schools being used as shelters for the affectees and 29 schools that have been damaged due to the adverse weather would not reopen today.

In the Sabaragamuwa Province with the exception of 15 schools which are being used as shelters all other school in the area will reopen today.

Fourteen schools belonging to the Elapatha, Ayagama, Nivitigala, and Kalawana Divisional Secretariats are scheduled to reopen on Tuesday (06).
